A steep drop down on an old mule track, cross a river and we climb up to the village of Busquistar. A return is made via a high path above the gorge to mecina Fondales and hence to the waiting vehicles.

Mountains of the Cumbres Verdes, Granada

The Cumbres Verdes (Green Peaks) are well known to the local spanish Granadinos as they are very close to the Granada ring road (20 mins), so access is easy. In spite of this the walking is quiet and unspoilt and has a certain attraction missing in the higher and wilder Sierra Nevada. Lush green valleys fight with arid badlands for possession of the land and this gives varied and interesting scenery and views.

Trevenque is a well known summit is one of the most spectacular and dramatic in the Sierra Nevada. The mountain is steep on all sides, but there are numerous ways up to it's majestic summit of 2079 metres.

The peak is very varied with the arid (las Arenas) badlands contrasting with the lush Dilar valley area. All the walks are interesting day excursions of varying lengths from a simple 4 hour to a long 7 hour day. There are scrambling routes available to the more adventurous should they wish.

  • pick up/drop off at Lanjaron & Granada (Alhambra Palace area)

Sierra de Huetor near Granada

The Sierra de Huetor mountains are relatively unknown and give great guided walking and scrambling in quiet and interesting scenery. The hills and forests offer the intrepid explorer a magnificent insight into the days when there were few paths into the mountainous areas. The area may only reach around 2000 metres in height but they have fascinating valley and mountain scenery worthy of mountains much higher and...more famous?

The area is open to day or multi-day walking and is perfect for the "get away from it all" types who are tired of following wide trails and footpaths accompanied by the noise of other travellers.

  • pick up/drop off at Lanjaron & Granada (Alhambra Palace area)
  • operates 1st September until 30th June
