The Alicante Mountains

The Alicante mountains, Costa Blanca

This little known mountainous area in the E of Spain is a beautiful location for walking and trekking. Only an hour inland from the Costa Blanca yet in a totally different world of quiet walking paths amongst the mountains.

Spectacular limestone peaks dominate the landscape, a superb climate and lots of rare flora and fauna along with fascinating history make this a great place for a weeks walking holiday.

We are based in one of the many small villages dotted amongst the hills with terraces of olive, almond and cherry groves. We'll be walking out from the village, or short drive to the start of the walks and returning back every day at the hotel.

The Frares Pinnacles

Limestone Pinnacles Costa Blanca

The Frares Pinnacles above the little village of Quatratondeta is a fascinating place of many limestone pinnacles. A maze of ever changing rock formations bring us to the top of the mountain and an easier walk down the hillside.

From Quatretondeta we walk along tracks until a cairn marks a path across scree slopes. As we near the pinnacles the path steepens and we eventually gain the main ridge at the summit of Penya Creus. From here we continue along the main ridge to the summit of Serrella. The descent is along a foresty track and rocky ridge via the top of Alt del Alt (1179m).

The Bernia Ridge

Bernia Ridge

The Bernia Ridge is often described has The Cuillin mountains of Benidorm! A wonderful riidge walk with scrambling in places. To do the whole ridge is a very long day, we do a short section with only easy scrambling yet very spectacular views out towards the sea.

Puig Campana

Walking near the Puig Campana

A spectacular limestone mountain, its slopes being much visited by rock climbers, with a choice of a circular walk around its base or to the top.
