Ski Instruction - Sierra Nevada

We offer personal ski coaching with Jon Phoenix (ex UK National coach. See CV below).
John is an enthusiastic and wonderful teacher using "Inner Skiing" techniques to engance your learning experience (see below)

The Sierra Nevada ski area is known as the sunniest ski resort in the world. High open snow bowls with runs of all standards. The Borreguilles area is ideal for beginners with modern and efficient lifts. Its a great place to learn! Intermediates will find this a skiers paradise with many long fast runs. It is possible to ski from a height of 3,400 metres to the base area at 2,000m. Harder runs are to be found for the experts on the Loma de Dilar. Many off piste adventures can be found here and the area is ideal for first tracks away from the pistes.

The resort is modern with fast lifts. Queues are rare during the week especially if you come in December or April. The resort is very snowsure with good and improving snow record and lots of made made snow available.

Inner Skiing (by John Phoenix)

"The purpose of Inner Skiing is to increase the magic of skiing and decrease the misery - to by-pass the frustrations which inhibit it's joy and freedom, and to learn how to reach that state of mind in which we not only appreciate the sport, but perform at our best.
The premise of this approach it that, primarily, it is neither external conditions nor lack of technical expertise which prevents us from experiencing skiing at it's best, but the doubts, fears and thoughts within our own heads. The Inner Skier comes to recognise that their greatest challenge, and consequently, their greatest possibilities lie in overcoming the self-imposed mental limitations which prevent the full expression of their physical potential.
Fears and doubts automatically manifest themselves as tension, rigidity and awkwardness, preventing fluidity. Using Inner Skiing, the skier learns the art of relaxed concentration and to trust the body's potential to learn and perform. We discover through a series of games and experiences that the secret of success in skiing lies in not trying too hard, and that your best teacher is your own experiences"
