Spanish Highs logoClimb Nevada de Chani in the Puna de Atacama, Argentina, Andes

The Nevado de Chaņi with 5953m main summit, "General Belgrano", lies about 100km north of Salta near the town of Jujuy. It is one of the richest archeological mountains in the region. There are only 14 mountains that have burial sites on their summits and Nevado de Chaņi is one of them. The first ascent of this mountain was in 1901 by a swedish expedition lead by E. Nordenskiold. Nevado de Chaņi is a privileged place for mountaineers. Some of it's faces are considered to be the bigest walls of northern Argentina. In particularly the south face of Chaņi represents a real challenge for those who decide to attempt it.
Effort required: Medium/High
Technical difficulty: Low

We run these mountain ascents in conjunction with our friends in Argentina, Puma Expeditions, experienced and knowlegeable local guides.
