High level guided trekking - day or multi-day tours. The high Sierra Nevada provide wonderful opportuinities for mountain trekking of the highest quality. The traverse of the main ridge takes 5 days and covers all the major peaks. Mulhacen, highest in Spain is always a challenge. In addition we have many fine day and multi day tours in the range.
The 3000m Peak Traverse
Early autumn and the spring are ideal times to visit. The weather is cool enough for the lowlands, yet warm and dry enough for the high mountains. Snow will linger on the high peaks for much of the year. We run these popular trips from mid-May through to the end of November. We aim to cover all the main 3,000 metre peaks of the Sierra Nevada in one week. Transport support is provided to ensure we are able to traverse the main sections of the range. The walking is quiet and unspoilt but a certain amount of resilience is required as it is remote and rough.
Climb Mulhacen
Mulhacen rises to 3482m making it the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula and continental Spain. Mulhacen is also the highest peak in Europe outside the Alps and the Caucasus Mountains, and the third most topographically prominent peak in Western Europe, after Mont Blanc and Mount Etna. It is part of the Sierra Nevada range in the Cordillera Penibetica. We climb Mulhacen in either a 2 day ascent staying in the Poqueira Hut or a 1 day (summer only ascent).
Trek the High peaks
The high and major peaks of the Sierra Nevada can be ascended in 1 or 2 days. Why not include the ascent of some of the finest peaks in Spain into your holiday itinerary? You may combine any of these trips into a week or 2 weeks walking. The walking is rough but the views are vast and spectacular and yet, quiet and unspoilt!
2 or 3 Day Crossings
Andalucia's Sierra Nevada lend itself to 2 or 3 day mountain trekking. There are high start points available that give access to magnificent mountain scenery, in the highest mountain range outside the alps in western europe. For those with limited time available in Spain, these crossings of the range allow you to experience the mountains at their best. We run these multi day treks on demand throughout the year, conditions permitting.
