We have just been informed that the Camino del Rey is in a very dangerous state and some of the protection is no longer viable. Until the position changes we cannot guide this route.
We do however have a whole variety of other entertaining via ferratas for you to enjoy. Most can be combined to give a full day's adventure.
The Camino del Rey has been called the scariest path in the world! A crumbling but protectable via ferrata. We have a 2 day itinerary that you can "bolt" on to your Sierra Nevada mountaineering trip. This exciting add-on logically will take you back to Malaga airport for a transfer home.
Day 1
Transfer from Lanjaron (2hrs) or Malaga (45 mins) to El Chorro. For
the Camino del Rey there are a few options: doing the first canyon
with a 30m abseil at the end can be done in 2h or 3h, if an easy climb
is included on the way. One could add the second canyon to that which
would take 2h extra. Coming from the other side one can do both the
2nd and then the 1st canyon, coming back the same way and including
a little abseil and very easy climb, about 5h. Basically, if someone
wants to see the whole camino, then it's 5h minimum. Groups should
be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4. HEAD FOR HEIGHTS ESSENTIAL!
(see video above). Campsite at El Chorro for the night. All facilities
here.
Day 2
Rock Climbing on some of the hundreds of rock routes of all grades
at El Chorro. Transfer back to Malaga airport.
