2 rescued from Tajos de la Virgen ridge, Sierra Nevada
Two hikers injured, whose identities are unknown at the moment, have been rescued in the Sierra Nevada. Helicopter Emergency Group Andalusia (GREA) reported by sources Coordinated Emergency Service 112 in Andalucia.
The same sources have indicated that about 14.30 hours they received a call from the Guardia Civil reporting that they were trying to rescue two injured hikers in the Tajos of the Virgin area, above the Laguna de las Yeguas under the refugio Elorrieta. Apparently the Civil Guard helicopter tried to approach the place where they were both injured, but the wind had stopped them. They asked GREA and then a helicopter, which has managed to rescue them and has moved to Estadio de la Juventud de Granada. Both have ankle fractures, one open. At present, the two walkers are waiting for the ambulance to arrive for transfer to the hospital concerned. Sounds like the exact same spot we have been warning about for some time!
