Bus to Mirador
Hi everyone, this my first post, so be kind.
A couple of summers ago I tried to walk up to Mulhacen from Trevelez, (I was staying in Granada at the time), but I did not make it, I had underestimated the distance. This year I want try again on the 21 June, the Summer Solstice. I saw a post on this great site, that there is a bus in the National Park to the Mirador de Trevelez and that this will shorten the walk and make it possible in one day. Could a member tell me where this bus leaves from and can I park at the start of the route? Where can I find a timetable and would it be feasible to do the round trip in one day? Thanks for your help. Fell Walker |

RE: Bus to Mirador
Hi Fell Walker and welcome to the forum!
The park service bus tends to start up when the snow clears from the road. In some years this is late May in others beginning of July. We have had a good winter snow wise but the high temps are quickly roding snow pack. It is too soon to make a judgement but I would guess that there may just be a chance of the bus starting by 21st June. You can catch the bus at the bus stop just down from the Meson Poqueira bar/restaurant. Not sure of start times but the bus stop used to have a timetable. Think there is maybe 3 or 4 a day up and down. Using the bus you can easily do the trip in a day. In fact you don't need the bus to do it in a day. See this post which describes how http://www.spanishhighs.co.uk/Forums/Thr...-in-a-day. Also more info at http://www.sierra-nevada-news.com/2010/0...ay-summer/ We are heading up to do it tomorrow on skis. Just a day trip too from the Hoya del Portillo. Let us know how you go on.
