Permanent snows in the Corral de Veleta this year

Was up in the Corral yesterday. Still some large snow patches below the north face of Veleta. Maybe permanent snows this year. See photo below. BTW, the bus up to the shoulder of Posiciones below Veleta from the Albergue at the Hoya de la Mora will stop running from 13th September. After that only large parties can book until the snow prevents access.

The schedules at the moment are the following: -
ascents: 8.00 - 9,30 - 11,00 - 12,30 - 15,00 - 16,30 - 18.00
descents: 8.45 - 10,15 - 11,45 - 13,15 - 15,45 - 17,15 - 18.45
Since there are only 17 places on each bus it is recommended to book in advance by telephoning 671564407. Good value at only ?4.80 for 500m uplift!
