Got back on Sunday, had a great week! Managed to complete what we had intended. We left the car at Poquiera Powerstation heading to Poquiera refuge, Got to the refuge on Saturday evening. It was a long and hot trek! Especially in ski boots! We stayed there a couple of nights and made a small tour up to the Caldera to acclimatise. From Poquiera, on the Monday, we headed up to Mulhacen. It was blowing a gale up on the summit and visibility was bad so we came down pretty quickly! Went down to the lagunas area and camped there for the night. On Tuesday we headed up to Vacarez and then over to unguarded hut just on the other side. It was near a river so were able to get water. Then the next day we climbed up Pico de Perez to get to Postero Alto refuge which was shut, it was a hard climb as it was very windy like the previous day!! The weather was a mixed bag of sun and gale force winds! Generally we were glad it wasn't too hot as we to boil the snow! We had enough time to do the journey in reverse to get back to the car but we had ran out of food. Anyway, my foot had blistered so I was glad we couldn't! Luckily we met some Spanish guys at Postero Alto who could give us a lift to Granada where we stayed the night and then take a bus back to Capiliera to find our car!
Yea thanks for the advice, we kept well clear of the areas you had mentioned. It was still hairy in some places and the wind didnt help!
