Bought a pair of these whilst in the Lakes last winter and have been using them on my ski boots whilst walking to/from ski lifts. They are brilliant on hard snow and ice and can be fitted quickly and easily. At around £15 they're cheaper than many similar products. Highly recommended! http://www.yaktrax.co.uk/
Think I need a pair for the U.K. at the moment...getting fed up of sheet ice everywhere Sad
Look good. If I didnt live in southern Spain I might well give these a try!

Do you think these are an "lightweight" alternative to crampons for some gentle winter walking?
These maybe be better suited Richard, but a tad more expensive, just add the name Grivel + ££

Richard,
The Yaktrax are fine on icy paths and even on compacted snow on relatively gentle slopes but they tend to 'ball-up' in soft snow. I would always use crampons though on steep, icy slopes.
Might get my parents some
