Using processionary caterpillers as Navigation aid
You can now get rid of your expensive GPS navigation systems, prismatic compasses and other devices used by Bear Grylls and Ray Mears, to obtain the correct direction. I have a much more impressive, cheaper, reliable and environmentally friendly answer.....
I was sat in the Dilar valley, in the Cumbres Verdes area of the Sierra Nevada, today eating my cold bacon butties and ruminating on the meaning of life, when I noticed that all the cones made by the processionary caterpillars in the pine trees faced south! Amazing eh? Further investigation indicated beyond doubt that they all faced the sun, ie south. So they have a use after all! Do they have pine trees in Antarctica?
