The Raspones de Rio Seco
Winter ascent a few days ago by the "Geezers" from Croydon MC. Graded a 3 star AD or possibly AD+ route. Like a much longer "Cosmiques arete" said one of them.

Full Report to follow.

RE: The Raspones de Rio Seco
Notes from leader of the trip Gary Brown.

Unfortunately we didn't note the grid ref for the point where we accessed the ridge this year. We were aiming to simply contour around from the Poquira, maintaining a height of 2500m, until we arrived at the flank of the ridge. Having said that, given the longer period of daylight, you should be able to do the whole ridge right from it's start. The first section is really just a walk, with no technical sections, so that part could be covered quickly and easily.

Once you have reached the rocky section of the ridge, probably about mid-way, the fun begins. Overall, you should find the route fairly straightforward at that time of year as I would expect a lot less snow cover and that would probably allow you to move without ice axe and crampons,

We soloed the whole thing and only had to use a rope for a few abseils where we couldn't clearly read the terrain. It would be interesting to hear if the tat we left behind is still there. It should still be safe enough for you to use, if needed, but I suspect you might find it easy enough to just down-climb - assuming you have good visibility.

One thing to look out for is loose rock - there's a lot of it about so just check every hold before putting your trust in it!
