The Gerald Brenan Traverse!
Ok, just when I have started to get the next 18 months planned out - you throw a spanner in the works!
http://www.sierra-nevada-news.com/2011/03/following-in-the-footsteps-of-gerald-brenan-for-cancer-research/ Whats your max number on this? What time do you think you will be starting from Granada? I have estimated 24hrs out on the hill and 24hrs recovery (Does Bar Flower have wheelchair access?) and then get back to UK! Hear from you soon Spready (if this should go in the walking/trekking catagory - feel free to move....apologies!) |

RE: The Gerald Brenan Traverse!
Spready,
It's simple. No max numbers, 3am start Granada, 19 hours target for completion followed by maximum recuperation time in Bar Flower. If only James is interested then so be it. James will have to do it (no pressure on him ha), with Spanish Highs supporting, and we shall have a good time and report back. We shall have raised as much as much we can for Cancer Research. Cant say fairer than that! Websites Spanish Highs Mountain Guides and Inspiring the Adventure |

RE: The Gerald Brenan Traverse!
Dont forget other than actually doing the walk the idea is to raise money for Cancer Research. Anyone taking part is asked to get as much sponsorship as possible.

A few years ago I did a recreation of a march between Hyde and Chester. The distance was 54 Miles on flat road and path and it took 16 1/2 hrs. My legs didn't work for 2 days after!!! Will let you know if we can get out to support the charity and have a crack at it. |

Spready,
Despite the abuse I sent you early re this ridculous idea..........I've just bought the book! I'll get back to you when I've read it and seen exactly what it involves. It sounds like madness, but that should suit James! Phil |

RE: The Gerald Brenan Traverse!
I am genuinely very excited about this and it would be great for as many enthusiastic people as possible to come along with me for the journey. It's always a great help to have people to bounce off when your morale starts to waiver. It might be tough but it will also be fun and most importantly its for a good cause, regardless of whether we beat 19 hours.
