Snow melting allows body of mountaineer caught in Feb avalanche to be found
The spring thaw has allowed the finding of the body of John Hogbin, a british mountaineer who disappeared in February in Sierra Nevada following an avalanche.
The body was been found, about 8.30 am, by Julián Luque, one of two men with whom the victim was with on the day of the avalanche in the ravine area of the San Juan bowl of the Sierra Nevada. The body was located in the bed of the river several hundred meters away from where he disappeared. The mountaineer was buried in more than five foot of snow in an area of difficult access. Commiseration to all friends and family. Websites Spanish Highs Mountain Guides and Inspiring the Adventure |

RE: Snow melting allows body of mountaineer caught in Feb avalanche to be found
The snow and ice of winter draws mountaineers into places that are beautiful, inspiring, and majestic. It's so sad when the mountains turn and show us that really they are unpredictable and deathly.
Thanks for posting the news Richard, I have followed this since it happened and am relieved for his family and friends that he has now been found. |

Horrible for the friend finding him but at least it will answer some questions for him as to why he wasn't found in time....so sad.
