Sierra Nevada ski touring snow conditions 13th Feb 2011

In the main all well consolidated with good ski touring conditions above 2000m. We went up from above Puente Palo to Cerrillo Redondo today. Quite icy above 2500m with ridges in the ice making the downhill skiing a bit taxing. Later and lower down the snow was in a good state and gave enjoyable skiing.

Mountaineering. Well consolidated for the most part and plenty of ice around although there is plenty of new snow due this week. See http://www.spanishhighs.co.uk/weather-si...evada.php.

N.B We have been ice climbing this week on icefall east of the Military Bunkhouse at the Hoya de la Mora.
