More snow please!
If you were on the south side of the Sierra Nevada today you could be forgiven for thinking it was mid-April and not early December.
Setting off from Puente Palo this morning with a blue sky and sunshine, I was soon peeling off layers and slapping on the sun cream.
It was bare grass and rocks all the way to Cerrillo Redondo, save for a few patches of old snow. At 3,000m the NW wind kicked in and probably explained why the ridge between Cerrillo Redondo and Tajo de Los Machos was mostly bare rock but at the north end, the snow is neve and is corniced. Continuing SE and traversing below Las Alegas to the Cebollar refuge, it was spring snow. Hard work, even with snowshoes.
There is no snow on the 'radar' at the moment, so fingers crossed for a change next week!
